  3.   THE PARALLAXIS PARALLEL PROGRAMMING SYSTEM

  6. This directory contains version -- 2.37 -- of the Parallaxis system. 
  7. Each program now has an independent version number, while this overall 
  8. number is being incremented for every change made.
  9.  
  10. The latest versions of the programs are:
  11.   pa    (Parallaxis compiler)              :  2.17
  12.   pz    (Parallaxis simulator)             :  2.04
  13.   pz2c  (PARZ to C compiler)               :  2.8  
  14.  
  15.   pmon  (timing tool for X window)         :  2.1
  16.   pgui  (graphics interface for x)         :  1.0
  17.  
  18. Besides the simulation systems for various workstations and PCs,
  19. the parallel Parallaxis implementation is available for MasPar MP-1
  20. and Conncetion Machine CM-2.
  21.  
  22. The programming environment tools are available for X-window systems only.
  23. These tools are included in the distribution files of the appropriate computer
  24. system. The source codes for both tools are available via ftp in separate 
  25. "tar"-files.

  27. The Parallaxis User Manual (without syntax diagrams) is now also available in 
  28. electronic form as a number of Postscript files:
  29.   MANUAL_large.tar.Z  (regular pages)  or
  30.   MANUAL_small.tar.Z  (two pages reduced on one)

  34. This directory contains compressed archive files of Parallaxis for

  54. The filename shows the version number (e.g. "x.2.10..." is version 2.10).

  67. The (basic) example files "Examples.tar.Z" are included in the Macintosh-file,
  68. but not in the other systems' versions, so you have to copy them 
  69. separately. All further sample applications "More_Examples.tar.Z" are separate 
  70. for all versions.

  72. All executable files are compressed and in tar-format, except the Macintosh 
  73. version, which has been converted by BinHex and StuffIt.
  74.  
  75. The text file DOCU_SHORT is a limited survey of Parallaxis version 1 (!),
  76. including the outdated version 1 language syntax, but does not resemble 
  77. the user manual! Text file BUGS_FIXED lists all errors removed from previous 
  78. versions. The current version number is stated in the name of this file.

  80. You are free to copy the file packages provided, but make sure to return 
  81. a filled-in registration sheet. If you consider to upload Parallaxis to
  82. another bullitin board, please let me know in advance, so I can coordinate 
  83. updates.

  85. In order to operate the Parallaxis system, you definitely need a copy of 
  86. the "Parallaxis Version 2  User Manual", which is available either via 
  87. "anonymous ftp", or as a printed copy for a nominal fee by air mail.
